We Got Tools, We Use Them Daily

Hello Roman,

First of all, we want to thank you for “training us” on helping our very afraid german shepard puppy.

At 5 months of age, Luna was hit by a car. Her right hind leg lost the ball socket and 4 pins were used the pull the bones back together. In addition, her front leg was broken which now has a plate and six pins holding it in place.

During the next 3 months, mostly in the first 2 weeks, she had 8 surgeries due to complications. We got her through the Foster Program at the local shelter and for 3 months she was transported back and forth as needed.

On November 14th, we adopted her with the knowledge that she may have more surgeries in the future.  It wasn’t the surgeries we were worried about, it was actually her fear of virtually everything!  She sheltered herself in my son’s room and would only come out to eat and go potty.  She would not come out of the safety of the hallway and his room.  If she had to, she would be so scared that she wet the floor or worse.

We new we needed to get her some help  and we got your brochure from the local Doggy Daze pet salon

Since the middle of December when we started our training, she now spends limited time, if any, in my sons room.  We have gotten her out on walks around the block but that is still a work in progress.  She will come around our friends, although she doesn’t stay, she still will come up and sniff them.  She will march right out the front door and hang out on the front porch with us and jumps up to see over the wall.  The garage was a big scary place and is now just part of the daily running around the house.

You taught “us” how to work with her and not give in to her drama, which she is the biggest drama queen ever!  Once we got the tools, we use them daily and are really seeing an improvement in her overall abilities.  We still have lots of work to do, but the more she trusts us and what we are doing, the more she is evolving into this great big sweet girl with lots of energy!

Thank you and we look forward to learning lots more!

Sincerely,

Linda Shadel and Family

”After doing research to find the best trainer in Phoenix for our needs we hired Roman and couldn't be happier with our decision.

He immediately showed us why our Cane Corso puppy did the things he did and what we were doing wrong and how to correct it. He got everyone involved, including our toddler.”

Corbin and Sega (aka Saber)

Corbin and Sega (aka Saber)

“I probably never shared this story, lol. After I adopted Corbin, I kept tabs on his last remaining brother (Saber, now Sega). They had been fostered together with their littermates and I felt badly about separating them.  Sega was still unadopted about a month after I brought Corbin home and I emailed the rescue to find out his status.

Sega had actually been "adopted" twice and returned by two families that felt he had too much energy. So he bounced around to two more foster homes and I felt terrible about that.

So, Corbin was in training with my friend Roman during the time I was checking on Sega. I tried finding him a home myself but no interest. I finally asking Roman what he thought about me taking Sega in addition to Corbin. And he told me I should let Corbin decide.

When I laughed and asked how, he suggested a brilliant idea. He told me to go into the other room and on a sheet of paper, write out the options. So, on one half of the paper in my office I wrote: "Bring Saber home" and on the other half I wrote: "Saber stays there."

We took two pieces of hot dog (high value treats for training) and I placed a bit of hot dog under each option. Roman said, whichever one Corbin takes first, is his choice.

What's funny was, neither one of us knew how it would work out. I thought Corbin would gobble them both and be done with it. But Corbin actually took one...and totally left the other one on the paper, which stunned me. He never went back for the other piece of hot dog. So....in effect, Corbin told me he wanted his brother with us too.
And that is the "hot dog test." " - Cheryl Hardy - Austin Texas, USA

What we learned In one session has been invaluable to us regarding training us to train the dogs

Roman is an amazing dog trainer. Our two dogs were stressing us out. Abby started escaping after we got Beryl. Beryl was barking almost constantly, I decided to rehome Beryl if therapy did not work.
