Roman has really helped us get our doggie issues under control. My dog was pretty confident that walks were a time for him to drag me or my husband down the street. We went to Roman's place to do a meet and greet one day and I was pretty baffled to see my dog, Mr. Apollo, walking like a good dog with Roman.
Roman showed me a few commands to use to train Apollo. Now here's the thing - if we don't train our dog, we can't become "our dog's best trainer". And in our case, we do see Apollo regress to old behaviors if we don't regularly train for good behavior. We are a busy couple and this has happened several times. But I truly believe that this is unavoidable, at least for my dog. When we train Apollo using Roman's methodology, it works. And when we don't, Apollo goes back to old behaviors. Now keep in mind, my dog isn't that motivated by treats, he is easily distracted and he isn't known for being the most "teachable" breed.
I am also a dog training newbie. I haven't had a dog since I was a child. I have no tips of my own to share. But that doesn't seem to be a problem. He responds to the training Roman showed us. I think that's because the training is fairly universal. It's more about interacting with your pet in a way that they respond to and not ignoring how your dog is reacting.
Apollo absolutely responds to the training Roman showed us, but it does require us to engage with our dog too, not just the other way around. You can't be on your cell phone diagnosing your mother's email problems while walking/training your dog. We just walk the dog, pay attention, use the commands we were taught, and be nice to the dog. Roman is really good at what he does. We've been really amazed! Roman has also dog-sat for us many times and it has been a great experience.
