HOLISTIC CANINE PARENTING

I am a Certified Dog Trainer and Holistic Behavior Coach, Empath, Clairvoyant, Reiki Master and Energy Healing Practitioner. I am an international public speaker, teaching educational workshops for some of the nation’s biggest No-Kill shelters and rescues.

My passion is to help people and dogs become aware of their emotions, learn how to balance mind/body/spirit and improve people’s relationships with their dogs. This helps owners raise their vibration and dogs reach their highest potential. My vision since 80’s has been for dog owners to know how to teach their dogs moral, ethical, and social skills.

Force-free, pain-free, and stress-free training administered with love and affection can turn training into a bonding experience between you and your dog. No matter where you live, the holistic training approach can become part of your life.

SO WHAT IS “HOLISTIC DOG parenting”?

The Holistic Dog Training – or Holistic Dog Parenting – approach is an emotional/relationship based philosophy of canine care-giving.

>
Sampson is a Great Pyrenees Rescue who came to us wary of human connection, intolerant of change, and reactive to vehicles and anything moving near our home. Roman has helped us get to know and understand this great dog. He teaches in a way that is sensible, logical, and insightful. We understand ourselves better and understand that our relationship with Sampson is all important. Highly recommend Roman’s incredible training!
— Peggy and Mike Smith, Educator Delaware, USA

It supports people to establish a secure attachment relationship with their dogs.

An individual dog is more than just an animal to be controlled.  Emotions, energy, and health are all involved in creating and maintaining a positive human/dog relationship.

A Holistic approach addresses all of these elements so that they can exist in harmony to create a “naturally” great dog. (Secret: It also makes the trainer – that’s you – happier, too!). My approach is force free, based on modern scientific definitions and I comply to the code of conduct as set forth by the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP).

How can you learn to be a better Care giver or Dog Parent?

Where ever you live in this world you can learn both in person and online. The Holistic approach does not subscribe to Dominance or Alpha theory where the dog owner relies on fear, threats, or power imbalance in order to get the dog to obey (I believe that this creates an ongoing battle, one you’d likely rather not fight forever, and, moreover, compulsive training can cause even BIGGER problems down the road).

I have seen Roman do some really amazing work with rescue dogs and “problem” dogs all over the country. He works in an entirely non aggressive, calm, non dominant manner that gets excellent results from even the most troubled dogs. He’s exceptional.
— Karen Vicencio – Holistic Horse Behaviorist and Trainer- Ireland

This approach creates a happy, well-adjusted dog who is tuned into you and who naturally WANTS to obey.  No more power struggle, no more frustration.

As a result, you improve your connection, your communication, and your dog obeys with pleasure, respect and focus on you– NOT because you’ve “dominated” him, but because you’ve taught him that being in good behavior is the happiest, healthiest, most loving and rewarding way for him to be

Holistic methods work quickly and powerfully, and in far fewer sessions than most trainers need.

I work with dog-guardians to heal and balance the relationship, by strengthen trust and communication and tap into your dog’s natural tendencies, skills, and breed-specific needs.
No one is better suited to teach his dog moral and ethical skills than his chosen guardian.

Your bonded connection with your dog, facilitated by my coaching, will provide you with the confidence and tools for a happy, well-behaved, best friend for life.

I believe anyone can learn to be a master trainer of their own dog. Yes, even when there are “BIG” problems to solve!.

We believe there are 7 fundamental ideals for holistic Dog parenting:

1. Make informed and educated decisions.

Dog parents need to be aware of alternative and holistic options that may differ from conventional choices so they can make informed choices that best suits their family and their personal values. I encourage open-minded research and discussions around pivotal issues such as fulfilling the dog’s needs, behavior management, wellness, vaccination, desexing, nutrition, interpersonal communication, socialization, social cognition and continuing education.

2. Seek respectful and nurturing yet structured relationships with your dogs

Holistic dog parents are committed to imparting the values of empathy, love, and compassion to their dog, and embracing attachment parenting techniques (including house training, containment and excitement control, free-will, consent, social interactions, teaching moral and ethics ).

3. Actively participate in your own and Your dog’s emotional and physical healing process

Helping them opt for minimally invasive pet healthcare modalities to help the body and spirit heal while respecting the many paths to healing, both holistic and conventional. Protecting your dog from medical or hysterical trauma during treatment.

4. Balance and integrate the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of being into everyday life

Create a balanced life for the entire family and dogs, using the principles of wholeness —healthy eating, regular exercise, natural healing, stress reduction, and nonviolent communication.

5. Teach them to respect their dog needs and have a valuable place in the human family.

Help them understand how they can actively provide opportunities for the dog to be in nature, and teach them how to be aware and protect their environment.

6. Limit your exposure to advertising, marketing, and consumer-driven culture.

Research to understand food labeling, nutritional values, breed discrimination, and misleading information.

7. Live more simply and consume less.

Make an effort to reduce your impact on the environment and to emphasize non-material values. The Holistic approach is helping people become aware of their dog’s natural environment, spiritual purpose, and kind and loving nature.
